Was the Dali unmanned when it hit the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore?! Take a look at the viral claim, and find out what the facts really are!

 

Claim : Dali Was Unmanned When It Hit Francis Scott Key Bridge!

On 27 March 2024, Real Raw News posted an article (archive) which claimed that the Dali was unmanned when it hit the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore!

As usual, the article is long, rambling and confusing, so here is an excerpt. Please feel free to skip to the next section for the facts!

White Hats Suggest Dali Unmanned at Time of Collision

White Hat sources told Real Raw News that the 100,000-ton Dali, a Singapore-flagged cargo ship, may have been unmanned when it collided with the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Maryland early Tuesday morning, causing a total structural collapse of the 1.2-mile bridge.

At approximately 1:30 a.m., the Dali was departing Baltimore Harbor when it smashed into a support pylon; the span crumbled like a Tinkertoy, sending mangled metal and overnight construction workers 150′ below into icy waters. Two were rescued, with the other six presumed dead.

Officials claim the Dali issued a distress/mayday call, saying the vessel had lost propulsion moments before the disastrous collision. They attributed the distress call to giving authorities enough time to close the bridge and prevent additional vehicles and people from plunging into the frigid Patapsco River.

Shortly after the ‘accident’ Synergy Marine Pte Ltd., the Dali’s management company, reported that the ship’s 22 crewmembers, ostensibly persons specialized in piloting enormous boats in and out of port, were safe and accounted for.

RRN’s sources, however, suggest that Synergy and public officials have misrepresented facts surrounding the incident.

At 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, U.S. Army Cyber Command (ARCYBER), which routinely monitors Deep State chatter, overheard a telephone conversation fragment between a National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) official and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. On it, an anxious Buttigieg shrieks at the NTSB investigator: “Unmanned? No bridge crew? That’s not a possibility, so don’t spread it around. In fact, forget you mentioned it.”

“It’s not only possible but probable. No crew was taken off the Dali,” the NTSB guy replied.

“Heed what I said,” Buttigieg said. “Rumors get people in trouble, and by people, I mean you.”

Truth : Dali Was Manned When It Hit Francis Scott Key Bridge!

The truth is – this is just another fake story created by Real Raw News, and here are the reasons why…

Fact #1 : The Dali Was Manned When It Hit Bridge

This is really silly, but it has to be said – the Mali was manned when it hit the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore.

In addition to its 22-man crew, there were also 2 local pilots onboard the Dali, who issued the Mayday call that likely saved many lives, minutes before it hit the bridge.

Not only did the crew of the Dali attempt to restart its engine (evidenced by the black smoke it produced), they also dropped its port anchor to try and shift its heading.

Unsurprisingly, the Real Raw News article offered no evidence to back up its claim, just rambling nonsense.

Fact #2 : One Sailor Left The Dali

Most of the crew onboard the Dali, as well as the two local pilots, are still onboard, as of 29 March 2024. One Dali crew member was injured in the collision, and had to be taken off the ship to receive stitches. So the claim that no crew was taken off the Dali is false.

The authorities do not plan to allow the crew members of the Dali to leave the ship. Unless there are safety concerns, the crew “will most likely disembark when the boat is moved or taken out of the water.”

Fact #3 : Other Ship Crews Remain Onboard

In addition to the Dali, there are seven other ships trapped in the harbour. Their crews are also remaining onboard, and will only be transported to land if they need medical attention.

All ship crews need shore passes from the US Customs and Border Protection to leave their ships, and come ashore in the United States. They cannot simply disembark as they wish.

There is also no reason for crews to disembark as these ships have enough provisions for weeks of travel. The Dali crew, for example, only requested for WiFi connectivity and new SIM cards, so they can communicate with their family back home.

Fact #4 : Real Raw News Is A Fake News Website

Real Raw News is a fake news website that capitalises on making shocking but fake stories to generate page views and money.

To protect himself from legal repercussions, the owner and writer, Michael Baxter (real name – Michael Tuffin), claims that his articles are “humour, parody, and satire“.

That disclaimer, which is not clearly mentioned in his articles, lets him keep creating fake news to go viral, and generate money.
