Samsung Culture Explorer Brings Malaysia To The World

Samsung Malaysia recently embarked on a citizenship initiative called Culture.Connect that aims to connect generations and communities through a celebration of heritage and culture. Part of the roll-out of Culture.Connect is a new location-based augmented reality app called “Culture Explorer“.

What Is Samsung Culture Explorer?

The Samsung Culture Explorer app works like a personal virtual tour guide, using augmented reality that guides the users in exploring interesting landmarks around the country. This allows its users to learn about Malaysia’s heritage with unique features tailored to the local communities in Malaysia.

Culture Explorer is not only aimed at foreign tourists eager to experience the diverse Malaysian culture, it is also designed to encourage Malaysians to rediscover their own culture and heritage. To ensure accuracy of the information presented, Samsung collaborated with the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia, Perbadanan Muzium Melaka, PETRONAS Twin Towers, Pinang Peranakan Mansion and Galeri Diraja Tuanku Ja’afar on the app.

Culture Explorer is compatible with all Android smartphones and tablets, and can be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store. No registration is required for users to enjoy full access to the app.

Samsung Culture Explorer Launched

Samsung recently launched their Culture Explorer app at the majestic Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia, with the Malaysian Deputy Minister of Tourism and Culture, Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin and Dato’ Roh Jae Yeol, Director of Corporate Affairs, Samsung Malaysia, officiating the launch.

Currently, the Culture Explorer app features historical information on the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia and The Stadthuys – two legendary landmarks featuring the rich history and humble beginnings of a country that was then known as ‘Malaya’. Samsung together with its partners will include more historical sites and places of interests in the app in due course. [adrotate banner=”5″]
