The states moving to PPN Phase 3 or Phase 4 will reopen their schools next month.
Frankly, it’s all quite confusing, but let’s try to break it down…
New PPN Phase 3 + 4 : Schools To Reopen In 2 Weeks
These states will be upgraded to PPN Phase 3 or Phase 4, starting Monday, 18 October 2021.
- Kelantan, Penang, Sabah and Kedah will be upgraded from Phase 2 to Phase 3
- Melaka and Klang Valley (KL, Selangor, Putrajaya) will be upgraded from Phase 3 to Phase 4
As per the earlier Ministry of Education announcement, schools in states that get upgraded to a new PPN phase will transition after two (2) weeks.
However, this means schooling will resume for some students only for a few weeks before the December school holidays begin…
How Schools Will Reopen In New PPN Phase 3 + 4 States!
The latest press release by the Ministry of Education is rather confusing, so here is a quick summary of what they’re trying to say :
PPN Phase 3 Schools
These students in PPN Phase 3 states can start face-to-face classes starting Monday, 1 November 2021 :
- Pre-school students
- Special needs students (MBK) in National Special Education Schools and Integrated Special Education Program
- Form 6 Semester 2 students
- Pre-University students in Malaysia Sports School (SSM)
- Students studying for public exams in boarding school / day school / private school.
- Students studying for international exams like IGCSE O-Level, A-Level, Australia Higher School Certificate and International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) and other international exams.
This applies to both public and private schools registered under the Ministry of Education.
PPN Phase 4 Schools
These students in PPN Phase 4 states can start face-to-face classes starting Monday, 1 November 2021 :
- Standard 1, 2 and 3 students
- Form 3 and Form 4 students
These students in PPN Phase 4 states can start face-to-face classes starting Monday, 8 November 2021 :
- Standard 4, 5 and 6 students
- Remove class, Form 1 and Form 2 students
This applies to both public and private schools registered under the Ministry of Education.
