Details Of 3 October Reopening Of Schools In Malaysia!

The Ministry of Education just announced HOW schools will reopen in Malaysia from 3 October 2021 onwards!

Schools In Malaysia To Reopen From 3 October Onwards!

On 15 August 2021, the Minister of Education. Dr. Radzi Jidin announced that schools will only reopen from 3 October 2021 onwards.

The schools will reopen in stages, starting with exam year students in Form Five and Form Six.

He provided further clarification on 12 September 2021, confirming the following :

Phase 1

• Education institutions remain closed, with only online learning.

Phase 2

• Special needs students, Form 6 Semester 2 and IBD Year 2 students can attend school without rotation
• Students taking IGCSE O-Level, A-Level, Australia Higher School Certificate and IBDP can attend school without rotation
• All other students will continue with online learning.

Phase 3

• Special needs students, preschool and kindergarten students, Form 6 Semester 2 and IBD Year 2 students can attend school without rotation
• Students taking IGCSE O-Level, A-Level, Australia Higher School Certificate and IBDP can attend school without rotation
• Students taking other international examinations can attend school with rotation.
• Pre-University Program students in Malaysia Sports Schools, and students taking public examinations (SPM, SVM, STAM and STPM) in full boarding schools can attend school without rotation.
• Students taking public examinations (SPM, SVM, STAM and STPM) in other schools can attend school with rotation.

Phase 4 (3 / 4 October)

• Special needs students, preschool and kindergarten students, Form 6 Semester 2 and IBD Year 2 students can attend school without rotation
• Students taking IGCSE O-Level, A-Level, Australia Higher School Certificate and IBDP can attend school without rotation
• Students taking other international examinations can attend school with rotation.
• Pre-University Program students in Malaysia Sports Schools, and students taking public examinations (SPM, SVM, STAM and STPM) in full boarding schools can attend school without rotation.
• Students taking public examinations (SPM, SVM, STAM and STPM) in other schools can attend school with rotation.

Phase 4 (17 / 18 October)

• Primary 1, 2 and 3 students can attend school with rotation.
• Primary 4, 5 and 6 students will continue with online learning.
• Special needs students, preschool and kindergarten students, Form 6 Semester 2 and IBD Year 2 students can attend school without rotation
• Students taking IGCSE O-Level, A-Level, Australia Higher School Certificate and IBDP can attend school without rotation
• Students taking other international examinations can attend school with rotation.
• Pre-University Program students in Malaysia Sports Schools, and students taking public examinations (SPM, SVM, STAM and STPM) as well as Form 3 and 4 students in full boarding schools can attend school without rotation.
• Students taking public examinations (SPM, SVM, STAM and STPM) as well as Form 3 and 4 students in other schools can attend school with rotation.

Phase 4 (10 / 11 December)

• Primary 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 students can attend school with rotation.
• Special needs students, preschool and kindergarten students can attend school without rotation.
• IBD Year 2 students and Pre-University Program Sim 3 students in Malaysia Sports Schools can attend school without rotation.
• All full boarding school students can attend school without rotation.
• All other students, including private school, international school and expatriate school students, can attend school with rotation.

 

How Schools In Malaysia Will Reopen From 3 October Onwards!

On 12 September 2021, the Minister of Education. Dr. Radzi Jidin announced details of how schools in Malaysia will reopen from 3 October 2021 onwards!

Schools That Can Reopen For Face-To-Face Teaching

These are the schools that can reopen for face-to-face teaching, without restrictions :

• Special Needs Students (MBK) in National Special Education Secondary School (SMKPK), Special Vocational Education Secondary School (SMPKV), National Special Education School (SKPK) and Special Education Integration Program (PPKI).
• Form 6 Semester 2 and International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBD) Year 2 students
• Students in full boarding schools
• Students sitting for international examinations
• Pre-school / kindergarten / mind development centres (4 to 6 years old)
• Small schools with fewer than 150 students

All other schools will reopen only at 50% capacity, with students divided into two rotating groups :

• Every class will be divided into two groups – Group A and Group B.
• Each class group will alternate between face-to-face learning and online learning, on a weekly basis.

Shorter Year-End Holidays

Due to the disruption in studies, the year-end holiday will be shortened and take place from 10/11 December to 31 December 2021.

2021 School Year Extended To February 2022

The 2021 School Year will also be extended to March 2022.

The 2022 School Year will now begin in March 2022.

COVID-19 Precautions

The schools will adopt these COVID-19 precautions to reduce the risk to students attending classes :

• Alternate seating arrangements
• Improved aeration of classroom with use of fans
• Wearing of face masks (preferably double-masks) within the school area
• Students will eat in their classes, with teacher supervision
• In air-conditioned classrooms, students will eat in open areas with teacher supervision.
• Sports classes are allowed, with students wearing their exercise clothes at home.
• Co-curriculum activities are FORBIDDEN
• Symptomatic students are FORBIDDEN from attending school
• If a student is found to be symptomatic in school, a COVID-19 screening test will be performed

Parental Choice

Parents and guardians are ALLOWED to opt-out from sending their children to school, without any disciplinary action.

They must, however, inform the school officially of that decision.
