The NVIDIA GeForce RTX SUPER graphics cards are here, and here is everything you need to know about these new SUPER edition cards!
Find out if these are the graphics cards you are looking for!
NVIDIA RTX SUPER Teasers + Briefing
The new SUPER graphics cards are designed to extend NVIDIA’s performance lead against the new AMD Navi-based graphics cards.
NVIDIA actually started teasing us about its impending launch with this video from 26 May 2019, before Computex 2019 :
That was followed up on 28 June 2019, with another teaser NVIDIA Super video called “The wait is almost over…” with the hashtag #RTXon
Finally, just hours before they unveiled the new SUPER graphics cards, they gave us a cursory briefing :
As you can tell – they were basically not telling us much. That’s partly because the new cards are basically cut-down versions of more powerful but existing GeForce RTX models.
It’s okay. We have everything you need to know about the new SUPER graphics cards!
The NVIDIA RTX SUPER Graphics Cards
Two of the new NVIDIA RTX SUPER graphics will replace existing GeFore RTX models :
- GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER – replaces GeForce RTX 2080
- GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER – replaces GeForce RTX 2070
- GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER
The GeForce RTX 2060 survives to remain the cheapest RTX card you can buy, while the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti remains the top-of-the-line RTX graphics card that money can buy.
How Much Will They Cost?
The new cards will cost the same, or a little more, than current RTX cards…
However, NVIDIA is dropping the RTX 2080 and RTX 2070 because they are no longer competitive, so this is what the new GeForce RTX 20 line-up will look like :
- RTX 2080 SUPER : $699 / ~£551 / ~€620 / ~RM 2,486
- RTX 2070 SUPER : $499 / ~£394 / ~€442 / ~RM 2,079
- RTX 2060 SUPER : $399 / ~£314 / ~€351 / ~RM 1,649
- RTX 2060 : $349 / ~£275 / ~€309 / ~RM 1,454
Yes, there will only be FOUR GeForce RTX 20 series cards, when it all shakes out…

Increased TDP Across The Board!
The new cards not only have more CUDA cores, and higher clock speeds, they also have a higher TDP.
The 2060 SUPER has a 175 watt TDP – a 15 watt (9.4%) increase
The 2070 SUPER has a 215 watt TDP – a 30 watt (16.2%) increase
The 2080 SUPER has a 250 watt TDP – a 35 watt (16.3%) increase

The Correct RTX 2070 SUPER TMU Count New!
It looks like everyone posted the wrong TMU count for the RTX 2070 SUPER graphics card, giving it an unfair performance lead over the upcoming AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT on paper.
The GeForce RTX 2070 actually has a TMU count of 160, not 184. This makes it slightly slower than the Radeon RX 5700 XT on paper, instead of being significantly faster in texture fill rate.
Launch + Availability
NVIDIA was originally rumoured to be launching the 2080 SUPER, 2070 SUPER and 2060 SUPER cards on 21 June 2019, with availability either on launch date, or in early July.
However, NVIDIA had earlier teased the possibility of an announcement in Computex 2019, but that did not pan out. Neither were they revealed in E3.
Finally, here are the official launch and availability dates :
- 2 July 2019 (6 AM PST) : Soft launch – the NVIDIA Super RTX series will be announced.
- 9 July 2019 : The 2060 SUPER and 2070 SUPER will be available for sale.
- 23 July 2019 : The 2080 SUPER will be available for sale.
In addition, NVIDIA will allow the custom AIB cards to be revealed on 9 July 2019, when the first two Super RTX cards go on sale.

NVIDIA RTX SUPER Custom Cards Updated!
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti SUPER?
The rumoured 2080 Ti SUPER card will use a brand new Turing GPU. However, with no AMD Navi graphics card posing a direct challenge, it’s possible this card may never see the light of day.
If NVIDIA eventually brings it out, it will definitely have more CUDA Cores, more TMUs and probably more ROPs than the current TU102 that the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti uses.
This new GPU will also be “unlocked”, so card manufacturers will have carte blanche to go crazy with it. It will be possible for them to design a card with a 300 watt TDP!
We also expect it to have faster GDDR6 memory, probably 16 Gbps. That would give it a memory bandwidth of 704 GB/s, assuming NVIDIA sticks with a 352-bit bus width.
