Synthetic Game Test – 3DMark
We used 3DMark’s Time Spy and Time Spy Extreme synthetic benchmarks, which offers a great approximation of gaming performance in general.
The Time Spy and Time Spy Extreme benchmarks support DirectX 12, and the latest features like asynchronous compute, and multi-threading support.
Time Spy – 2560 x 1440
Wow! In the Time Spy test, the GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER was 3% faster than the GTX 1070, and 46% faster than the GTX 1060! In fact, it was just 5.5% slower than the Vega 56.
Its overall gaming score was 3% higher than the GTX 1070, 42% higher than the GTX 1060 and just 4.7% lower than the Vega 56.
Time Spy Extreme – 3840 x 2160
At the higher 4K resolution, the GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER was equal to the GTX 1070 in performance, but 47% faster than the GTX 1060. It was also 10% slower than the Vega 56.
Its overall gaming score was the same as the GTX 1070, 42% higher than the GTX 1060, and 9.2% lower than the Vega 56.
The Division 2
Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is a third-person shooter game released in March 2019.
We tested it in two resolutions using the Extreme settings :
- 1080p : 1920 x 1080 pixels
- 1440p : 2560 x 1440 pixels
1080p Gaming Resolution
At 1080p, it was 3% faster than the GTX 1070 and 43% faster than the GTX 1060. However, both Vega 56 and RTX 2060 were 20% faster.
However, it’s important to note that the GALAX GTX 1660 SUPER was able to deliver an average frame rate way above 60 fps.
1440p Gaming Resolution
At 4K, it was 5% faster than the GTX 1070 and 69% faster than the GTX 1060.
