Acer just launched two new 12-inch Chromebook models for the education market – the Acer Chromebook 512, and the Acer Chromebook Spin 512. Let’s take a look at the two new Acer Chromebooks!
Acer Chromebook 512
The Acer Chromebook 512 is a 12-inch notebook, with touch (C851T) and non-touch (C381) options. Both display options have an IPS panel with a 3:2 aspect ratio, and a 1366 x 912 resolution. The display also opens a full 180-degree..
Acer offers three processor options – the quad-core Intel Pentium Silver N5000, the quad-core Intel Celeron N4100, or the dual-core Intel Celeron N4000. Its battery capacity is unknown but Acer quotes a battery life of up to 12 hours.
Acer Chromebook Spin 512
The convertible Acer Chromebook Spin 512 (R851TN) has a 360-degree hinge that lets you flip it into four modes – clamshell, tablet, display and tent. Its IPS display has a resolution of 1366 x 912 pixels, and is protected by Antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass.
This model comes with two processor options – the quad-core Intel Pentium Silver N5000, or the quad-core Intel Celeron N4100. Like the clamshell Chromebook 512, it promises a battery life of up to 12 hours.
The Acer Chromebook Spin 512 comes with a Wacom EMR stylus that lets the teacher or student take notes or draw. When not in use, the stylus is kept safely in a storage slot.
Safety + Durability Standards
Both Acer Chromebook models are certified to meet the MIL-STD810G military standard. That means they can withstand drops of up to 122 cm (48 inches) and up to 60 kg (132 pounds) of downward force.
They are also certified to meet two leading two safety standards – the ASTM F963-16 and UL/IED 60950-1. Even their keyboards are designed to be spill-resistant, with a gutter system that protects it against spills of up to 330 ml (11 fluid ounces).

Both Acer Chromebook models will be available in four variants to education and commercial customers in EMEA and North America :
