Kia Stinger Preview with Grand Tour + Full Specifications!

The much-anticipated Kia Stinger is here! Let’s take a look at every aspect of the Korean marque’s first attempt to break into the sports sedan segment. Does the Stinger have the Power To Surprise? Read on and find out!

The Kia Stinger Revealed!

Based on the Gran Turismo (GT) concept, the Kia Stinger features a sleek fastback silhouette with a rear-wheel drive. Inside, it features a sophisticated modern cabin with high-quality finishes and luxurious materials.

Blending high-performance with luxurious comfort, the Stinger is a halo product – designed to elevate Kia’s status as a carmaker. Not surprisingly, it is the fastest automobile Kia has ever made. With its 3.3-liter turbocharged V6 engine, it can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds!

Turbocharged GDi Engine Options

The Kia Stinger comes with two engine options – the Lambda 3.3 T-GDi engine, and the Theta II 2.0 T-GDi engine.

The 3.3L twin-turbo V6 Lambda T-GDi engine delivers 365 horsepower at 6,000 RPM, with up to 510 Nm of torque from 1,300 to 4,500 RPM.

The 2.0L twin-scroll turbocharged four-cylinder Theta II T-GDi engine, on the other hand, produces 251 horsepower at 6,200 RPM with 353 Nm of torque from 1,400 to 4,000 RPM.

2nd Generation 8-Speed Transmission

The Kia Stinger features a second-generation 8-speed rear-wheel drive automatic transmission. This transmission also features a Centrifugal Pendulum Absorber (CPA) torque converter when paired with the 2.0L Theta II T-GDi engine, helping to reduce torsional vibration through the drivetrain.

Shift-By-Wire transmission control allows you to switch the transmission mode in an instant. You can set it to automatically adjust the gears, or you can take manual control and switch them via paddle shifters mounted behind the steering wheel.

German-Tuned Handling

Kia tuned and refined the Kia Stinger’s handling on the legendary Nürburgring circuit. The control is further enhanced by its Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) that features the Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control System, as well as its Electronically-Controlled Suspension (ECS) and Rack-mounted Motor Driven Power Steering (R-MDPS).

Safety In All Conditions

The Kia Stinger is not just a track car, it’s meant to be driven in all roads and conditions. Your safety is ensured through safety technologies like the Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC), Antilock Braking System (ABS), Traction Control System (TCS), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Blind-spot Collision Warning (BCW), Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning and of course, 7 airbags. No wonder the Kia Stinger received 5 stars from Euro NCAP!

Cabin Luxuries

The seats in the 3.3L V6 GT variant are covered in soft Nappa leather, while the 2.0L GT-Line variant gets leather seats. Both variants will come with an 8-way power driver seat with 4-way mechanical lumbar support. The front seats are also ventilated for maximum comfort whether it’s hot or cold.

The driver has both a 7-inch LCD cluster display with important driving information, and an 8-inch floating navigation touchscreen display with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. Rounding up the cabin luxuries is a 15-speaker Harman Kardon premium speaker system.
