Canon calls the new 1D X Mark II the King of EOS. Let’s take a look and see if it lives up to that claim, and what it offers over its predecessor.

Canon first released the 1D X in March 2012, with an 18 MP CMOS sensor, 12 fps continuous shooting speed and full HD video recording capability.

Now, four years later, the 1D X Mark II brings with it a bevy of improvements.

It now sports a 20.2 MP CMOS sensor with dual DiGiC 6+ image processors and expanded ISO speeds of up to 409,600.

You can now shoot continuously at 14 fps, or 16 fps in the Live View mode. You can also record 4K videos at up to 60 fps, or full HD videos at up to 120 fps.

The 1D X Mark II also features a new 360,000 pixel RGB + IR metering sensor and Dual Pixel Auto-Focus capability, allowing for faster and more accurate focusing and tracking of the subject.

The 1D X Mark II also features built-in GPS, allowing to automatically geo-tag your photos and videos.

The new Canon 1D X Mark II has a magnesium alloy body that is dust and drip-proof to protect it against the harsh elements. It also boasts a shutter life expectancy of 400,000 cycles.

The king of EOS retails for RM 25,299 or about USD 6,325.
