As you can see, the softmod delivered the best results in SolidWorks, CATIA, 3ds Max and UGS Teamcenter Visualization with significant performance improvements in EnSight and Pro/ENGINEER. However, Maya and USG NX saw almost no improvement in performance.

Performance Compared With A True Quadro

zentrani also took the trouble to benchmark a Quadro FX 1700 which is a "lower-end" workstation graphics card based on the NVIDIA G84 GPU.

So, a genuine NVIDIA Quadro card is at least 2X faster than a soft-modded NVIDIA GeForce card. However, NVIDIA prices the Quadro cards at ridiculously high prices which are often 4-10X higher than the equivalent GeForce cards. As such, soft-modded GeForce cards definitely offer much better value for money, even if they do run much slower than the "real" things.
