The Logitech MX510 Paint Mod

I've been wanting to do this for the longest time but didn't have the time until now. Here it is, finally - a paint job of my Logitech MX510 mouse which I bought 4 years ago. It's still a fantastic mouse and I love it. I am using a different mouse for my second rig now so I decided to refurbish this good ole Logitech MX510 mouse.

For some reason, Logitech loves coating their products with a black rubbery layer, I hate it cause it always peels off and attracts dust like a magnet. That, by itself, is annoying enough but it's now even worse. Because the MX510 is so old, its rubbery layer has begun to "melt", and become sticky and gooey. Dust sticks to it very easily but can't be wiped off. It also leaves a gooey residue on your hand after use.

So I decided to give the mouse a nice bath and some new clothes for the new year. Here's a few pics of just how horrible the mouse has become after 4 years of use.

Horrible, eh? Those were the pics I took before dismantling and cleaning the mouse. To get to the screws so you can open the mouse up, you will need to peel off the stickers underneath. After that, it's pretty simple to take the Logitech MX510 mouse apart.
