ED#61 : It's The End-Of-Life For Intel Core 2 Mobile CPUs Too

Recently, we posted about desktop processors that Intel was planning to axe in the near future. We now have word that Intel will also discontinue seven (7) Intel Core 2 Duo mobile processors, as well as a range of Intel Core Duo, Intel Core Solo and Intel Celeron M processors. Do note that this is based on a leaked report and may still be subject to change.

Back in September '07, Intel had already announced the discontinuation of eight (8) Intel Core Duo processors as well as one (1) Intel Core Solo and four (4) Intel Celeron M processors. Their production will officially end next month, although all pending orders will still be fulfilled. So expect notebooks to still carry these processors way after the EOL (End Of Life) date.

In January '08, Intel will announce the discontinuation of five (5) standard models and two (2) low-voltage models of the Intel Core 2 Duo mobile processor, as well as two models each of the ultra-low voltage Intel Core Duo and Intel Core Solo processors. Even the dwindling Celeron M models will get pruned, with two (2) standard voltage models and one (1) ultra-low voltage model headed for the chopping block. All these processors will be axed in March '08.
