Introduction

September 30th marked the end of the Intel Mobility Campaign. Aimed at promoting the Intel Centrino platform to young Malaysian consumers, the campaign consisted of various marketing events held together with Channel V, JUICE, the Malaysian Institute of Art, Zouk and selected Starbucks and "mamak stalls" around the Klang Valley.

During the campaign, consumers were given the opportunity to participate in online contests at www.befree.com.my. Intel and their channel partners sponsored various prizes including Intel Centrino-based notebooks.

Intel also sponsored an Intel Notebook Bag Design Competition, in partnership with the Malaysian Institute of Art. It was launched on August 15, 2005 and open only to students of the institute.

The students were invited to submit sketches of their notebook designs. The main idea was to foster creative ways of carrying notebooks. The top ten entries were then provided with funds and a deadline of one month to create the final product.

The top 10 finalists!

This contest, as well as Intel's Mobility Campaign, culminated in the Intel Mobility Party at Zouk. There, the ten designer notebook bags were displayed at a dance cum fashion show with models wearing outfits sponsored by Top Shop and Top Man. Other highlights of the Intel Mobility Party included the DJ group Altered Image who mixed and spun their music off Intel Centrino-based notebooks!

Let's join the party!

The Loft And The Party

For the media, the event started off in The Loft, a separate lounge area in Zouk. There, Intel's marketing manager, Alvin Phey as well as Intel's PR Manager, Norhizam Kadir introduced all ten notebook bag designers. The designers were then given the opportunity to show their designs and talk a little about the idea behind their designs.

The media was also able to examine the ten unique designs up close. They ranged from a large carry case inspired by hotdog vendors at baseball games to a notebook bag designed to look like a pair of jeans!

We were then shepherded to the dance area in Zouk. Suitably liquored up, the party started with hitz.fm DJ celebrity Serena C welcoming everyone to Zouk and then briefly going through the key points of the Intel Mobility Campaign. Then it was time to giveaway the prizes!

Unfortunately, yours truly did not win any of the notebooks, but two lucky fellas went home with an Intel Centrino-based notebook each! Argghhh... Why can't I have their luck??

Next up - the fashion show and notebook bag contest results!
