Guns Aren't The Only Things That Can Hurt You (Continued)

You character moves through the game world very freely, and you have the freedom to approach every situation however you want. Sneak attacks or all-out war, it's all up to you. The Stamina indicator is there to show you how long you can hold your breath underwater, or how far/fast you can sprint when running with the Shift button held down. Naturally, your movements will be slower should you have a rocket launcher equipped instead of your standard peashooter (hand gun).

This is where the word 'tactical' starts to make sense. You can only have 4 weapons at any given time, in addition to only 6 grenades of 3 types each (18 in total). Ammunition is of course limited, dependent on weapons type - standard FPS fare. Should you want to pick up a new weapon, you'll have to drop one of your other weapons and all its ammo should your slots be full.

One of my favourite guns, the silenced MP5. Great for stealthy kills.

The weapons variety is somewhat limited. You have your assault rifles, shotguns and machine guns, only one handgun, a rocket launcher and a sniper rifle.

The effect your weapons type has on your character's physical performance showcases another aspect of the game experience : the physics engine. The majority of objects you find in the game can be manipulated in any number of ways. Boxes can be moved or shot at. Shelf racks can be pushed over. You can even use small explosives or grenades to bring down huts or other small structures.

Tossing 18 grenades at a building, however, will NOT bring it down. You'll have to wait for certain mission objectives to fulfill your inner Demolition Man.

The game also features vehicles, with each vehicle, boat (and the odd hang glider) having their own unique handling characteristics.

Yes, men in red Hawaiian shirts can fly.

The game makes use of realistic rag doll physics, all part of CryTek's proprietary CryENGINE game engine. If you have the ammo to spend, you can indulge in some rather bloodthirsty after-death gun slinging, and watch bullet-riddled bodies fly around.
