Since 1999, we have been developing the BIOS Optimization Guide, affectionately known as the BOG. From a meager beginning of a single page, it now covers over 400 BIOS options. As old BOG readers will know, we started offering two editions of the BOG since Revision 8.0 - a simplified edition and the complete edition.
Normally, the complete edition is only available to subscribers who help sponsor the development of the guide through a small fee. However, that changes today! From now on, we will post a BIOS option from the complete edition of the BIOS Optimization Guide every weekend.
This week, we will be taking a look at the Burn-In Mode BIOS setting.

It’s Day 33. She is getting stronger physically. Still not very communicative. I think she can understand what we say most of the time, but most of the time she just ignores us.
The good news is today, she has started drinking more water, and even allowed us to feed her a small chunk of kuih (Malay cake). It’s a start... We are going to try feeding her some juice tomorrow.

She wasn’t very communicative either today, but she did shake her head a few times, so we are getting through to her sometimes...
After an entire night of talking to her (and having her ignore us!), she finally allowed us to give her some water. It’s an improvement since she usually refuses to drink any water.
Baby steps, but better than nothing, I guess...

If you were impressed with the performance of the 5400 RPM Western Digital Scorpio, you will be astounded by the "higher-end" Western Digital Scorpio Black.
Running with a higher spindle speed of 7,200 RPM and boasting twice the cache of a Scorpio, the Scorpio Black represents the epitome of Western Digital mobile hard disk drive technology.
We had the opportunity to give their top-of-the-line 320 GB Scorpio Black for a test drive and we were most impressed with its performance.
Not only did it deliver a large storage capacity, it also delivered excellent results in our benchmarks. In fact, it had the same platter-to-buffer transfer rates as the 500 GB Western Digital Caviar GP desktop hard disk drive!
In this update, we added a new page on Surface Temperature and the Platter Data Transfer Profile, as well as a new page on Usable Capacity.

Nothing much changed today...
Well, she’s stronger now and can move both her legs pretty well. Physically, she’s definitely better than she was days ago. However, mentally, she’s still not herself.
She would mostly ignore us although she did laugh on two occasions to some joke I made. Obviously, she understands what we tell her. Just no idea why she refuses to communicate most of the time...

When I went to see her this evening, nothing much had changed.
It’s not so much that she can’t remember who we are. Her behaviour was also quite puzzling. She would not communicate with us, sometimes closing her eyes to ignore us. :wall:
Sigh, it’s been a month since her accident. I guess we should be grateful she has come so far. But it looks like there’s still a very, very long way to go.... :(

It’s the 30th day...
Today is a happy day, but one that’s mixed with great sadness.
When I visited her at mid-noon, she was awake and moving her arms and legs. I tried talking to her and she was quite responsive. She seemed to understand what I was saying, which was fantastic!
Unfortunately, she cannot recognize anyone... not me, not her mother, not even Ryan. She couldn’t even recognize herself (in a photo)... Very depressing... :(
Sigh, I have Intel breathing down my neck about a review and I just have no mood to do anything. Yes, they KNOW about Jenny’s case, but do they care? No, it’s business as usual.

They moved her to the neurosurgical ward this afternoon when I went to see her.
She’s still very sleepy and she now looks quite gaunt and weak. However, her vitals are good, and when she woke up this time, she seemed a little responsive.
The intensivist doesn’t think her lack of response is due to sedation... but we have no choice but to give her time. Hopefully she just needs a little more time.

Sigh.. Was hoping for some progress these few days, but nothing so far.
She has been waking up spontaneously the past few days, but she just stares blankly. Unlike before, she doesn’t seem to recognize anything, or anyone.
After weeks of non-stop sedation, the sedatives would have built up in her fatty tissues and will take time to dissipate. However, she was responsive earlier... and it’s been three days since she was last sedated.
I just don’t know what to think... Maybe I’m getting worried for nothing...

I met Dr. Lau, the neuroradiologist who was supposed to "fix" her AVM and aneurysm, early this morning. Very, very nice guy who took the time on a Saturday morning to sit down and go through her scans with me before discussing her treatment options.
Ultimately, Jenny’s condition is best treated by embolizing the the AVM and aneurysm. Basically, embolization involves the blocking of the target blood vessels with glue or metal coils.
He is the most experienced neuroradiologist in Malaysia when it comes to fixing AVMs and aneurysms through embolization, but as luck would have it, the man who taught him how to do that, a Dr. Gyula Gal from Sweden, will be coming to Malaysia for a couple of days.
He suggested that we make use of this fortuitous opportunity to have him perform the procedure on Jenny with his assistance. Since Dr. Gyula Gal has 15 years of experience, her chances of a successful embolization in a single sitting would be much greater. There is still a 10% chance of complications, but those are very good odds as far as these conditions go.
Needless to say, we were ecstatic and accepted his very, very kind offer. Dr. Lau will now arrange for her embolization on either Dec. 14 or 15 when Dr. Gal will be free to do it.
The timing is just perfect. They usually aim to do this about six weeks after the "accident". Dec. 14-15 will be about 7 weeks from her accident. Perfect!
